Grief Journey / El Camino del Duelo

Grief Journey

In thanatology, the foremost authority is Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, a pioneer in palliative care and thanatology, who’s through her experience supporting terminally ill patients, discovered that although the five stages of Grief are identified; denial, anger, negotiation, depression, and acceptance, this is not a linear process and it is unique for each person.

Grief is the process that unfolds following a loss, whether is tangible or intangible, of something you had and you no longer have, or something you desired but not got it, across the different aspects of life.

Losses and gains, much like life and death, are inherent to existence; they are experiences we all undergo, not to learn from them, but because they are part of life itself, but, once they have occurred, we can choose if they are going to build us by reframing the experience and rediscovering a path toward a fulfilling life.

It is true that after navigating Grief, you are not going to be the same person, as alters you at your very core; however, it is also true that is possible to find new ways to be happy and enjoy life, despite the pain experienced.

Throughout the Grief Journey, a support network is crucial for the bereaved peoplecompanion, whether through a professional, a community, family, or friends, is undoubtedly the most valuable way to be present, it is not about curing the pain or taking it away, but simply being there, even in silence, listening and allowing them to express their emotions.

Let´s connect heart to heart!💜
